Testimony: “I have been clean for over 5 months now! God delivered me from every addiction I had! God is the reason I am alive!”

Hi, my name is Mandy! I am from North Carolina. I am 36 years old and have three beautiful children: Kayla, Katie, and Lucas. My girls are 14 and 10 years old and my son is 8 years old. On May 9th I will have been here at Lydia’s House for five months. Now that you know a little bit of my background, let me tell you about my past.

My family broke apart when I was 4 years old. My mom left me and my sister with our dad. We grew up very poor. Anyway, my dad had a hard time getting things “straightened” out. At age 13, I started smoking cigarettes and smoking pot. I was also drinking vodka on a regular basis. At age 16, I climbed a tree and untied my best friend’s dad who was hanging dead. At age 17, I was in a secular rehab which lasted about two weeks and then I was right back out on the streets drinking and smoking pot. By age 18, I was introduced to a drug called cocaine. So, by now my addiction had grown to include pot, alcohol, and cocaine. At 22 years of age, I had my first daughter, Kayla. At 23 years of age, I watched Kayla’s grandfather on her father’s side get blown away by a 12 gauge shotgun for absolutely no reason. At 25, I had my second daughter, Katie. I was being beaten by her father on a daily basis. When Katie was 4 months old, I left him. A few years later I had my son, Lucas. One year later I was having a funeral for his father. He was beaten and drowned in my backyard. He was the love of my life. Then I found a drug called crack and I met my 2nd husband in 2001. For nearly the past 8 years, I have been a pothead, alcoholic, tobacco addicted, pain-pill snorting crack head! Altogether, I have endured 22 years of addiction. Now, let me tell you about my present situation and some of what God is doing for me now.

I have been clean for over 5 months now! God delivered me from every addiction I had! God is the reason I am alive! He has restored my relationship with my oldest child. My father has faith in me. I have integrity for once in my life. God is even working on fixing the relationship with my mother. Finally, let me tell you about my future.

I am looking forward to working here in the ministry. Oh, and by the way, I have very severe dental problems. I have been praying for 3 months that God would fix my teeth. And for anyone who doesn’t believe in prayer and faith…they start the work on my teeth this week. Today is Monday, May 4th. By Friday, the work will be started. PAID IN FULL BY GOD! Thank you JESUS FOR SAVING MY LIFE!
